Sarah Palin Ends Affirmative Action
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 | Politics | 2 Comments
On a recent tv program it was discussd that if Senator Obama becomes President it will be difficult for Affirmative Action Programs to continue. It would be hard to say that there is racial bias when Barack Obama holds the highest position in the most powerful nation on earth.
I am not too sure that this in itself should signal the death knell for Affirmative Action. Senator Obama, after all, is an exceptional person. He was president of the Harvard Law Review; an exclusive club that has less members then Mensa. So, unless you believe that the Huckstable family of a lawyer and a pediatrician are the average black family, I think we might have a way to go.
Then again, we still have Sarah Palin. She described herself as a ”Hockey Mom” and has gone out of her way to make herself out to be Just average like the majority of America. Well, I’m convinced. There is nothing that makes her special and therefore we have reached the American Dream. Anyone can be Vice President. If anyone can hold the second highest office in the land then why do we need that pesky Affirmative Action? I think we should end it and credit Gov. Palin with bringing about that victory.
But wait! you say, “She was Governor Of Alaska, a state that was denser in moose then people (something Palin was working to rectify) doesn’t that make her special? With a population density like that I think everyone gets a chance to be Governor.”
Republican: “Sarah, I think it’s your turn to be Governor.”
Sarah: “I wanted to be the Independent”
Republican: “Nope, either Governor or you get to be the Democrat”
Sarah: “Okay, but I get to chose who will be the Unemployed”
But, she was a Miss Alaska beauty contest winner. Nope, she came in third. ( I know she won a lesser beauty contest to get to Miss Alaska but with the density question from before it was either her or her husband, Todd.)
Well If she wins, she’ll still not have acheived the top position in the government. That’s true but it would only be a seventy-two year-old heartbeat away. if McCain loses, it looks like Sarah Palin may be gearing up for a bid in 2012. As a matter of fact, there is such dissension between McCain and Palin that Palin talks about them having different camps. This doen’t show a lot of loyalty. I am surprised cause of the two sexes I think that women are more loyal. Gee, I guess that makes her special; there goes her Affirmative Action victory.

Political Potpourri

This week I will ramble incessantly about different political things that have happened. Expect no unifying theme other then, it’s political.
Am I the only one who understands what Joe Biden meant? From what I read, Sen. Biden was saying that Sen. Obama is up to the challenge. Okay, he implied that he would face an international crisis but this was based on his foreign relations experience. Sen. McCain has already said that Sen. Biden is often wrong on foreign policy (replay third debate). So which is it, is Joe Biden right (maybe for the first time according to Sen. McCain)? Is Sen. Obama up to the challenge? Will there be a crisis after the election;? If there is, will Sen. McCain be up to the challenge?
Other then John McCain’s proclamation that he is ready to lead from day one, what do we have to prove that he can? He was a naval pilot not somebody who leads a lot of men. He has been a Senator for quite a few years but all of his experience led him to vote for the Iraq war. As for the surge, Bob Woodward said that his sources report that the surge was not what worked.
Sarah Palin failed the first test. Three weeks later she was given a retest and failed again. Should her consolation prize be the Vice Presidency? No, especially since she still doesn’t know what the job would entail. Her recent appearance on SNL proved she could read a cue card so maybe the campaign should write the duties of the Vice President on her hand.
I have to clarify the difference between class warfare and Republican class warfare. To the Republicans, class warfare is when the middle and lower class believe that the upper class should pay more because they make more. The Republicans complain that Sen. Obama’s tax on people who make $250,000 or over is class warfare. Yet when the Republicans complain about it they mention that Sen. Obama’s Plan would give people who don’t work a tax break. Assuming that the average American makes $50,000 which is more of a welfare program giving $15,000 to the poor or taxing someone like Mr. Fuld 40%or 50% of their $40,000,000.
Finally we come to the question of Socialism. The Republicans believe that redistributing the wealth is Socialism and they are not for it. Conversely, they must be for consolidating the wealth. I can only assume they mean in the upper class. With the middle class shrinking, soon we will have the upper and lower class. We had that once before, it was called feudalism. With Obama we’re all brothers and with McCain it’s “Serfs up”

Ethical Unethics

Ethics deals with what is right or wrong. This is sometimes difficult to determine. We want absolutes in a constantly changing life. If killing is wrong then it should always be wrong. If we kill an animal or a plant to sustain our life are we wrong? If we don’t do that are we wrong for killing ourselves? The big question is whether I will answer this question. The answer is no. When I try, my head hurts.
It does set the background for this week’s blog. Sarah Palin was recently found guilty of ethical violations of Alaska’s law. Her response was complete denial. HUH! Yeah, that’s right, she denied that she was found guilty of any ethics violations. Does even Joe Six Pack accept that interpretation?
Alaska found that she abused her power and that was an ethical violation. Here is where we get to the murky waters of ethics. What is going to be done about it? I feel that the right thing would be to bring her up on the charges and maybe impeach her. Nothing will probably be done about it because like a group of “Verbal” Gints they’re worried ” What if I miss’ and she becomes the next Vice President? So her unethical behavior will lead to more unethical behavior, until it’s almost ethical to be unethical. My head is starting to hurt again.

P.S. They are talking about Sarah Palin being involved with the Alaska Independance Party and I noticed that the logo of the party is a polar bear. I found it interesting that Sarah Palin recently wore a polar bear pin at one of her campaign stops.
I Feel Like Maureen Stapleton
Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 | Politics | 4 Comments
I just watched the Vice-Presidential debates and I feel like Maureen Stapleton. She was in the movie “Bye, Bye Birdie.” When the movie was completed they had a party and everyone was making a speech. It seems that the director got up and said what a big star Ann-Margaret was going to be and how good she was in the film. The camera men followed suit and most of the rest of the men raved about how beautiful Ann-Margaret was, etc. It got to be Maureen Stapleton’s turn and she had been drinking a bit. She stood up and said, “Am I the only one who doesn’t want to fuck Ann-Margaret?”
That’s the way I feel about Sarah Palin’s performance. She lost the debate, that should be the only thing that was said about it. This debate was Michael Phelps against someone from the Special Olympics.
The first problem with the debate was Gwen Ifill. The Republicans set her up by bringing up her book. She didn’t go after the answers for fear of being called biased. She should have nailed Palin on her belief in global warming. At the very least she should have forced her to answer the questions (like she agreed to) not give a resume.
“I may not answer the questions the way that either the moderator or yu want to hear,” Palin said. Well Joe Biden and Gwen Ifill may not have wanted her to answer the questions but the people deserve one.
Sarah Palin really didn’t answer any questions; all she did was attack. She says that McCain has experience but the public has to ask “What has that done for us?”
His experience made him know about Fannie and Freddie but what leadership did he show? Did he reach across the aisle that he says he is so good at? Did he rally the Republicans? Did he do anything? Is that Leadership?
Governor Palin attacked Joe Biden for saying that it was patriotic to pay taxes. I am reminded of a group of people who pledged “their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor.” To Sarah Palin this is not patriotic and because it hasn’t probably passed her desk in Alaska, she won’t recognize that it is from the Declaration of Independence and we know how unpatriotic those guys were.
The biggest probl.em with not showing Palin as she truly is, is that having survived the debate she now has been turned into an attack dog. This wouldn’t be bad except she is just throwing out any crap she can. So, in that vein I’d like Palin and McCain to answer this:
- Does McCain’s bus “The Straight Talk Express” rule out the Gay Community?
- During the debate why did Governor Palin support Al Qaeda?
P.S. Sarah Palin did say during the debate, “I would believe Petraeus and that leader of Al Qaeda.”
This is a time for real change, not bullshit.
